Are you still
at Flow? As of November 2008, 14 Acre Farm and Flow parted ways. We
wish them the best of luck, but no longer supply them with any of our bread or
produce.
Are you organic? Technically yes, but officially, we are not
allowed to say so. We are Certified Naturally Grown, a non-profit certification
program designed for small farms. The major difference between Certified
Naturally Grown and the USDA Organic program is the cost to farmers and the
amount of paperwork. So no worries; no chemicals here!
What is farm-to-table catering? Farm-to-table catering is a sustainable
way to provide high-quality food while supporting ourselves and other small
chemical-free farms. Our ingredients come from farms within a 100 mile radius,
reducing the time and cost for shipping, ensuring absolute top-quality
freshness, and keeping farmland as farmland. With ingredients such as seafood,
we follow the guidelines from the Blue Ocean Institute, ensuring that we do not
choose over-fished and endangered fish populations.
Why is it important to buy local? The Emmaus Farmers' Market has an
excellent list of 10 great reasons to buy local. To view that list, click here.
Where can I buy your produce and bread? You can
purchase some of our sweets at Mas Cafe, located in the triangle in downtown
Emmaus. Or you can stop by our on-farm store in season. For special orders, call Kevin
610-509-6829.
Where are you located? The farm is located 6 miles from Jim Thorpe, PA, right by the Carbon County Environmental Education Center and Mauch Chunk Lake Park. Come make a day of it by visiting all three! For directions, click here.
Are you a co-op? Co-op can have many meanings. Our
understanding is that it is more of a food buying club where families get
together to share responsibilities for ordering bulk items from a
distributer. We do not have this
service. Our membership program is known as a CSA or community sustained
agriculture, where members pay for the season upfront, the food is grown on the
farm, and the only responsibility throughout the season is to show up each week
to pick up bread and produce. If you would like to find a local food co-op, ask
us- we might be able to help you find one.
Are You Hiring? Dreaming of the agrarian life? We're
pretty sure we've got this season under control, but please don't hesitate to
ask, especially if you are local! Please don't be upset if we don't get
back to you. We actually get a lot of job requests; it would be quite the job to
respond to everyone. Sorry! If you'd really like a response, you could call us:
610-509-6829.
How can I find other local farms/CSAs near me? Localharvest.org is the best resource
for locating farmers nearby. They have several search options to make it easy to
find just what you're looking for.
